Lumbini itself is an admirable place for the human beings as the generous center of humanity. It is one of the world's most important spiritual sites where the great human Siddhartha Gautama open his eyes for the first time in this mystical world on the day of Baishakha Purnima, the full moon day of May in 623 BC, later at the age of 35, he became the Buddha. It’s a huge garden spreading in the area of 7.86 sq. kilometers which includes three zones and each zone covers one square mile and connected with walkways and a canal to each other.
The Lumbini garden situated south-western part of modern Nepal at an altitude of 150m in Terai (plain) region, near to the boarder of India. This place situated at 7 hour of driving distance from Kathmandu or 45 minutes flight and 30 minutes of drive from the nearest airport of Bhairahwa. It has sub-tropical vegetation.
The place is most sacred pilgrimage site for all the followers of peace from our earth. They used to visit for the seek of the peace and harmony and to show due respect towards the birthplace of this great human. Now, it has becomes one of the flourishing destination for other visitors other than Buddhist. Many tourists comes here for the purpose of recreational activities. Most of them used to come here to visit the temple of Maya Devi. It is the most important sites in the Lumbini Garden and dedicated to the mother of Buddha and also the exact birth place of Lord Buddha, referring from many historians and archaeologists. It is said that, after taking birth, Buddha took his first seven steps in this place.
Another main attraction of this garden is the Ashokan Pillar, which was built by the Indian Emperor of Mauryan dynasty Ashoka while visiting the birthplace of Buddha back in 249 BC. The inscriptions on this Pillar also refer the spot as the birthplace lord Buddha. Visitor also used to enjoy the different typical architecture of different monasteries build by different countries like China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Germany etc to show their illustrative presence in the birth place of Buddha.Now, it has become the center for to study the Buddhism and also for meditation.
